5-Boomer Friday

The latest from PE Teacher and author

David Carney

Greetings PE Nation,

I hope you are doing well. I'm back at school with my crazy schedule but love being back with my students! Be sure to check out the new episodes on my podcast, including lessons from our cruise and creating an alter ego in PE. Remember, this is the format for the newsletter:

1-A tip, game or strategy for teaching

2-A Book I'm reading or a quote I came across

3-A podcast or documentary I think is amazing

4-An awesome thing I've seen or heard or a current obsession of mine

5-A question to ponder or respond to

I hope you enjoy!

Dave

P.S. Full disclosure: I do not make any money by discussing the products in this email. I'm simply sharing what I'm enjoying at the moment.

1-Teaching Strategies

Ben Landers (The PE Specialist) is an amazing physical educator that you need to be following. Plus, he's a great guy! His conflict corner posters have saved me a lot of time and energy and help students solve problems on their own. Check out his free Poster and watch the video. Hope you like it!

2-Book I'm reading

Before I saw the movie "The Boys in the Boat," I read the incredible book. If you took the Miracle on Ice and put it in the 1936 Olympics and on water, you'd be close. I'm a sucker for true, inspirational stories!

3-Documentary to check out

I recently rewatched "Jiro Dreams of Sushi", about Jiro and his family. He owned a 3-star Michelin restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. He was 85 years old when they recorded his life, his passion and his pursuit of excellence!

4-Awesome thing I've seen or heard

When I was a kid, Walter Payton was incredible to watch (and I'm not a Bears fan). He wasn't the fastest or the biggest, but he had the heart of a champion! This video will inspire anyone in any field to greatness. Enjoy!

5-Questions to ponder

What is your focus for the new school year? Take a 30 second poll!

I hope you've enjoyed this 5-Boomer Friday. Let me know how I can make it more beneficial for you in the future.

5-Boomer Friday The latest from PE Teacher and author David Carney Greetings PE Nation, I hope you are doing well. The Florida weather has given us some consistency problems, especially with kindergarten. We're off the entire week putting up shutters and preparing for the worst (hoping and praying for the best). Growing up in Buffalo, NY, we had serious snow days, but this is crazy! Be sure to check out my new and older podcast episodes, including gamification, large group strategies,...

5-Boomer Friday!!!

5-Boomer Friday The latest from PE Teacher and author David Carney Greetings PE Nation, I hope you are doing well. The heat index in Florida has been absolutely hurting demolishing my plans for my students. We can't be outside when it hits 104 degrees, which is almost every day. That means a lot of inside instruction for my 3rd grade and kindergarten classes. That means either in the media center or inside their classrooms. It's not a great situation, but we make the best of it for our...
